In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered. Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-7 NRSV)

Thought for today: RPM is your friend. Here's some hints...

  • copy all your RPMs onto your hard-drive... don't muck about swapping CDs
  • install all the packages with the one command line... let RPM sort out what order to install them in
  • Use Checkinstall... so everything is managed by RPM

    Website is back up. Rob tells me "The CPU fan on carmen crapped itself so it was overheating, and we couldn't tell as all testing was done remotely. Its been replaced." Someone needs to invent a way to tunnel the smell of burning electronics through SSH, :-).

    [bluetux] Webalizer is great for creating nice stats, but I also want to browse through my weblogs and have all the IP addresses resolved. After a bit of messing around I hacked out DNSRawOut. It's crude and ugly, but it works for me ;-).
