Went for a tramp with Brendan, Michelle, and Roger today. Walked from Okura to Stillwater. Had fish and chips at Silverdale and a pint of beer at the Wade Hotel . Was a very nice day not to have a job!

Helped Dad dismantle old pipe fence. Used a gas torch to cut it up, until Dad burnt his hand with it... ouch! .

Installed Kino at Rik's. Roger came over too and had a look at Rik's system. Discovered Samba requires a really looong time before all the shares come up, but eventually they do work.

Helped Rik set up his video editing system: Samba, ALSA sound drivers, firewire, Mplayer, Rezound, Cinelerra, Dvgrab. Got everything but Cinelerra working. We'll try Kino next.

Had a very successful InstallFest. Sold over 170 copies of Linux and installed Linux on 40-50 machines. Thanks to everyone who helped!

Ralph came over. Had a few beers while: I set up networking and the soft-modem on my Mandrake desktop; and Ralph installed Mandrake on my old, old P133 laptop. Beer makes installs go better .

Went to Zap2 for dinner. Also got my WoF and rego today, and defleaed the cats.
