[tux] The Herald published Chris's article on using Linux today B-D. Lots of email. Did my IR3 tax return. [nz] No-one wants to pay tax, but it is the basis of democratic civil society, so I'm happy to pay my share. (If it wasn't for Intel's discounted share purchases scheme it would be just so much easier!)

[B] Bottled my ginger beer. Added logos to my resumé, just so it looks purty B-). Helped David set up his Conexant HSF modem. Linuxant has done an excellent job on Conexant drivers.

Quote for the day:
"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man."
  • George Bernard Shaw
  • Command for the day:
    rpm -q --qf '%{ARCH}' kernel
  • Find out what architecture (i386/i686/athelon) kernel is installed.

    Thursday, 12 June 2003
[ice] More work on IceWM Control Panel. Wallpaper setting pretty much working, but I've stuffed up the "drag-n-drop" support. Will get back to that later.

    Wednesday, 11 June 2003
Installed Java after much mucking around. What a mission! Now though I can view Asciimation in all its stunning cinematography. First Sun's self extracting RPM didn't, then Mozilla spent two long hours downloading an XPI only to throw it away because of permissions problems. Hint: Download XPI files using wget, then install them from the local drive.

Went for a walk up Mt. Roskill while Mozilla was downloading the Java XPI for the second time.

    Sunday, 08 June 2003
